Everything you need to know about the Wildcard competition that will be introduced on Big Brother 23. Find out how it will affect BB23 players.
Once the players are divided into four teams on Big Brother 23 and a head of household is chosen, non-immune guests will participate in the brand new Wildcard contest. In the past, fans would watch players split into teams for seasons like BB11, BB14, and BB18. In 2021, there was also a “team twist” on Big Brother Canada 9, who divided opinions among the fandom. As has been widely reported in the press, the competitors of Big Brother 23 will also be divided into teams.
the BB23 the cast members will be split into teams in the season premiere. After entering the house in groups of four, players will immediately go head-to-head for the chance to become a team captain. Later, the four team captains will choose the candidates they want for their respective teams. These team captains will also be able to compete to become the first householder of the season, and the winner of the HOH will grant immunity to their entire team. However, that’s not all there is in this twist. The season will also feature a brand new competition, the Wildcard Competition.

As disclosed in a Parade interview with producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan, the three non-immune teams on Big Brother 23 will participate in the Wildcard contest. One guest from each team will be chosen to participate in the competition, but there will be only one winner. The winner of the Wildcard Contest will guarantee their immunity, but only his immunity. It is important to note that the Wildcard contest does not grant immunity to an entire team – just the chosen candidate who enters and wins. But the twists and turns don’t end there … there’s more!
Later, host Julie Chen will introduce the winner of the Wildcard contest on Big Brother 23 with an offer: by accepting immunity, that player will also accept some kind of penalty or punishment that could affect that player, their specific team, or even the whole house. This twist is part of the “big risks, big rewards” theme of BB23. It looks like there will always be a cost for most of the privileges earned during this season. So, in order to ensure your safety, you will also need to get some blood on your hands. These twists are a direct response to the shy / fearful gameplay that has been showcased in recent seasons of Big Brother. Hopefully there will be nowhere to hide BB23.
Fans are eager to see how this tag team division and Wildcard competition will affect the game of Big Brother 23. After the very slow Big Brother 22: stars season, producers are doing their best to shake things up and make players take more risks. Hopefully it will work out!
