Carson Daly has shared some details about the marriage between Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani which he officiated over the weekend of July 4th.
Daly was an easy choice for the couple to be the one to marry them. Besides being longtime friends of each singer, Daly was the host of “The Voice” in 2015, aka the song contest series the newlyweds met.
Speaking on the “Today” show Tuesday, Daly shared some details about the wedding with his co-hosts, who were eager to hear how the magnificent ceremony in Oklahoma had unfolded.
“It was very, very special, it was amazing to be a part of such an important time in their lives,” Daly said of his friends’ big day.

He went on to note that he was particularly struck by how the two were able to blend their unique styles and aesthetics into one beautiful, cohesive wedding, calling it a “mix of country and glamor.”
“They’re an unlikely couple. It’s like marrying delicious fried chicken with champagne,” he joked. “On paper, on the menu, it doesn’t work, but it does.”
Daly also touched on how fans of the duo might soon be sharing a bit of Blake and Gwen’s big day. He noted that he had convinced the two performers to write their own vows rather than simply repeating those said by the officiant. He explained that they are “two of the best songwriters in the world” and that everyone present wanted to hear what they had to say about each other.
Stefani went first, “crushing” it as Daly described it. Although he didn’t think it was up to him to share exactly what she said at the private ceremony, he noted that there were no “dry eyes in the house.” After she was done, he even joked with Shelton that he would have a hard time following her.

He added: “It was a bunch of ‘pinch me’ moments.”
Daly concluded his segment of the “Today” show on Tuesday by calling on Shelton to release the song, which he said had a working title of “Reach the Stars,” so listeners could be transported to his wish-time and feel the joy and beauty he felt as an officer.
“You have to [record it] now, and I get the royalties if you do, “he joked.
