Christina Perri has opened up about her grief after losing her baby girl, having miscarried during her third trimester late last year.
While reflecting on her devastating pregnancy loss, which occurred just months after her miscarriage at 11 weeks in January 2020, the 34-year-old singer detailed her excruciating grief in a raw Instagram story on Friday.
“When we lost our daughter last November, I thought I would never be well again. I thought I wouldn’t laugh, play, dance or love anymore… and for many months I didn’t, ”she told her followers.

Perri continued, “But then I started trying to heal and learn to live with pain and sorrow alongside love and joy.”

‘It’s a doozy. I kept telling myself that everything would be better by the summer. everything would be better in Ocean City. I thought if we could just make it to Ocean City it would be okay. And it was true. We’ve arrived here and everything is fine, ”she captioned a selfie, which showed the ocean behind her.
In December, Perri described her pregnancy loss as “worst experience” of her life in a long Instagram post.
At the time, she told the world that although it had been a struggle, she was grateful for the amount of love and support she had received.

The musician said after her miscarriage “the days have been long and yet they also feel like they are all merging into one”.
“We do not agree, but we believe in the day when we will. me, [husband Paul Costabile,] and Carmella envelop themselves in love and sadness every day. we learn to deal with our grief together.
She continued, “Some days we can’t swim, some days we float well. every day we burst into tears and every day we find times to laugh. it was all the feelings, all the emotions, all the questions, all the anger, all the sadness; all day. a few moments of abandonment and hope creep in, but not often. ‘
While Christina said she knew these waves of emotion were a “normal” part of grieving, she always found it “overwhelming.”

But she gave fans something to look forward to, telling them “next time you hear from me my album will be ready!”
“Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time,” she continued. “I hope the holidays bring you joy and I hope that after a year that has brought us so many storms, we will only find rainbows in the new.”

Her husband, 33, shared the same photo on social media and wrote: “It has been a difficult few weeks and we are very grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers from all of you.”
In early November, Christina announced that her unborn baby would need to have an operation immediately after birth due to problems with her intestines – a condition known as jejunal atresia.
Jejunal atresia occurs when the intestine does not develop properly and the membrane connecting the small intestine to the abdominal wall is not fully developed or is completely absent.
