Hip hop legend Biz Markie is alive and in hospice care, despite reports that he has died aged 57.

Journalist Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson briefed the public via Twitter Wednesday evening, adding that the family said the singer had “significant brain damage”, possibly due to a stroke he suffered last year.

Representatives for Markie told DailyMail.com: “Biz is still under medical care, surrounded by professionals who work hard to provide the best possible health care.

“Biz’s wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from her friends, peers and fans.”
