Netflix is preparing a series project inspired by the life of Bernard Tapie. Directors Olivier Demangel and Tristan Séguéla have already chosen their actor: according to several media it is Laurent Lafitte, known among others for his role in Little handkerchiefs, who should embody the businessman. The series called Wonderman (“wonderful man”) should have six episodes of 45 minutes and filming is to begin in 2022.
According to the magazine Première which revealed the information, the synopsis reveals that “From singer to businessman, from minister to prisoner, Bernard Tapie has known everything. Through his successes and failures, Wonderman retraces the romantic fate of an extraordinary public figure.”
The series should cover a good twenty years of the life of Bernard Tapie, from his beginnings in professional life in the 1960s, until the beginning of the 90s.
It remains to be seen whether this project, which dates from 2012, will find its audience or not when it is broadcast, but one thing is certain: it may well be intriguing.
