Both seasons of the acclaimed Los Angeles crime drama / comedy Bad Girlst are coming to Netflix, and fans are already starting to rouse the excitement of the Bad Boys franchise spin-off.
Los Angeles: Bad Girls stars Gabrielle Union as Special Agent Sydney Burnett, the sister of Bad Boys’ character Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence), and Jessica Alba as former criminal turned working mother, Detective Nancy McKenna.
LA’s Finest is coming to Netflix globally and fans are excited
Despite the star power and connection to the Bad Boy movie franchise, the series was canceled after season 2 by Spectrum Originals, although the arrival at the streaming giant is starting to give you hope (as is the case for each of the series that are relived).
Since its cancellation, Los Angeles: Bad Girls It experienced a brief revival after FOX acquired the broadcast rights to both seasons. The channel was left without several shows from its fall 2020 line due to production shutdown caused by COVID-19.
Netflix it also acquired the broadcasting rights for both series. Its release resonated with viewers as it became one of the top 10 shows in the US and Canada, but is now reaching the rest of the world. LA’s Finest spent 26 days on Netflix’s Top 10 list in just a few days.
Los Angeles: will Bad Girls Netflix save the series and produce a third installment?
Unfortunately, Los Angeles: Bad Girls was not without its problems. Reviews of the show’s first season, giving it a paltry 24% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Audience ratings are a bit more forgiving, with an overall rating of 62% for Rotten Tomatoes and an IMDB rating of 5.9. The series also had the misfortune of ranking 9th on TVLine’s list of the 10 worst shows of 2019.
Given that LA’s Finest was an offshoot of the Bad Boys movie franchise, viewers would have been forgiven for expecting a cameo from Will Smith or Martin Lawrence. There were plenty of nods to the main movies, and even a cameo from former NBA star John Salley, who played a hacker in the movies.
Now that both seasons of the show will be on Netflix, there may still be hope for a new season of Los Angeles: Bad Girls. Netflix has a reputation for saving prematurely canceled TV shows. The streaming giant has relaunched Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, Full House and Degrassi, to name a few.
