In March 2020, as the coronavirus pandemic forced the world to close its doors, Netflix announced an event of a new kind. Baptized Netflix is ​​a Joke, it was to bring together for more than a week more than 100 English-speaking comedians, on stage and live on Netflix. The goal was obviously for the platform to capitalize on the genre of humor to arouse the curiosity of new subscribers, and probably convince them to take out a subscription. This also allows it to highlight certain productions of the genre, already present in its catalog. But after several cancellations, and a long period of radio silence for Netflix, Reed Hastings’ firm had to review its copy.

On her Twitter account, she unveils the date of her new event, which will visibly take place in 2022. From Los Angeles, several comedy stars should offer us unprecedented performances. The details of the program, however, are kept secret and we will probably have to wait a little longer to find out more. On a dedicated site, the platform should regularly share information, with perhaps a line-up in the coming weeks.

As a reminder, in its first version, the festival was to welcome several big names from the American scene such as Dave Chappelle, Amy Schummer, Bill Burr, David Letterman or Jamie Foxx. Jane Fonda, Kevin Hart, Martin Lawrence and the cast of Shitt’s creek also had to be there. Netflix also intended to devote a few sequences to the masters of humor disappeared like Robin Williams or George Carlin.
