Renewed in June 2020, two months after the launch of its season 1, the comedy #BlackAF has yet to make a comeback on Netflix and therefore will not do so now, since the streaming platform has just announced that the order for season 2 has been canceled.
This cancellation should not however mark the final death of the series. Indeed, it is announced that #BlackAF is redeveloped into a new format. She could come back in the form of family movies. While waiting to learn more about it, the series as such is therefore over.
If you are not familiar with #BlackAF, it is a creation of Kenya Barris, the creator of the sitcom Black-ish from ABC. This time, he doesn’t have Anthony Anderson to interpret his role, since the screenwriter is also the headliner, playing a fictional version of himself to talk about relationships, prejudices, culture… and success. Thus, this family comedy which consists of only 8 episodes proposes to follow Kenya with his wife (played by Rashida Jones) in their eccentric universe where money and fame have created a whole new level of problems that they manage to their own way, although that’s not necessarily the best way to do it.
Genneya Walton, Iman Benson, Scarlet Spencer, Justin Claiborne, Ravi Cabot-Conyers and Richard Gardenhire Jr round out the cast.
