Sour Prom premiered on YouTube Thursday night, after weeks of promoting Olivia’s Instagram and other social media pages.

The film featured live performances of several hit tracks from Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour, released in April.

Olivia, who never had the chance to experience her real prom, recreated the melancholy nostalgia of high school dance, from moody lighting to her fallen glamorous girl aesthetic.

After seeing the promotional image on social media, Hole’s Courtney Love took to social media to accuse Rodrigo of copying the artwork from the band’s 1994 album, Live Through This.

On June 24, the 56-year-old shared a photo from the set of Rodrigo’s “Sour Prom” and wrote “spot the difference! #Pairing. ‘

After a Facebook fan asked whether Courtney was “crazy or not” about the alleged maniacal ball queen scam on Olivia’s side, she replied, “she didn’t ask.” So a bit of both. I dig the ways.

Courtney tagged Olivia in all three social media posts that appeared to be from a location hurt that Olivia “didn’t ask” her permission.

After Olivia heard about the comparison, she seemed to be trying to soften the situation. ‘I love you and live this so much.’

Courtney then seemed to feel justified by the recognition, but in her response, she courageously asked for a formal apology in written form, as well as flowers from the singer.

‘@oliviarodrigo Olivia – you’re welcome. My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! Dm me for deets! Can’t wait to read your note! ‘

This is not the first time that Rodrigo has been accused of taking inspiration from other artists, as many do in the music world.

His song “Good 4 You” has been compared by obviously similar chords to Paramore’s “Misery Business”.

More recently, Rodrigo’s track Brutal has been criticized for having a guitar riff similar to Elvis Costello’s Pump It Up.

Responding to a Twitter user who said Brutal is “pretty much a direct lift from Elvis Costello,” the 66-year-old music star came to Rodrigo’s defense, writing: “It’s good for me ….

“You take the broken pieces of another thrill and make a whole new toy. That’s what I did, ”he wrote, admitting that Pump It Up was influenced by Bob Dylan’s 1965 song Subterranean Homesick Blues, itself based on Chuck Berry’s 1956 record Too Much Monkey Business.
