They marked 33 years of marriage at the end of April.

And Rita Wilson marked another milestone with husband Tom Hanks on Friday when she turned 65 on Instagram.

The 64-year-old actress shared a cute photo of the two-time Oscar winner as he cycled through the wilderness for the occasion.

Tom and Rita’s friendship dates back to years before their marriage in 1988.

They first met when she had a brief guest role on her early ’80s sitcom Bosom Buddies, but Tom was married at the time to actress Samantha Lewes, with whom he was married. shared two children: Colin Hanks, 43, and Elizabeth Hanks, 39.

They partnered up again in 1985 for the comedy film Volunteers, and they went public with their relationship five years after they first met, though Tom was still married to Lewes, whom he later divorced in 1987.

A year after the actor’s initial union broke up, the new couple married and started a family of their own with White Boy Summer’s sons Chester ‘Chet’ Hanks, 30, and their youngest, Truman. Hanks, 25.

Celebrity spouses have continued to act together over the years, and Rita has featured in some of Tom’s most high-profile films, including the doomed 1990 and 1993 Bonfire Of The Vanities adaptation of the classic rom-com Sleepless In. Seattle, in which she played her sister.

Tom has also found roles for him in his directorial endeavors, including his cult classic That Thing You Do! by Larry Crowne from 1996 and 2011.

Tom and Rita had the unenviable position of cementing the spread of the novel coronavirus last year when they became among the first celebrities to contract the disease.

The couple were abroad in Australia at the time while Tom was filming Baz Luhrmann’s biopic Elvis, about the legendary singer.

They documented their recovery from illness on social media and provided some much-needed hope at the start of the pandemic.

After the two recovered, Tom was able to complete work on the film, which is slated for release in June 2022.

Since their recovery, Tom and Rita have donated their antibody-rich plasma to help others fight this deadly disease.

After recovering from the effects of the virus, Wilson spoke to The Guardian and told the outlet that she was happy to have her husband by her side as they recovered together.

“I think having the virus at the same time made it a little easier… We were taking care of each other instead of having the pressure to take care of someone,” she recalls.

The actress also noted that she and her husband were able to empathize with each other during their battle with COVID-19, which she was glad she was able to do.

“We were fortunate to be in a place where we understood what the other was going through,” she said.

Last May, the longtime lovebirds celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary.
