If you thought you saw the last Golden Buzzer in “America’s Got Talent” this season, think again.
While every judge usually gets a chance to smash the coveted buzzer and send an act straight to the live shows, 9-year-old singer Victory Brinker delivered a performance on Tuesday’s episode that warranted a change in focus. rule.
Although Brinker admitted to feeling “pissed off” (excited and nervous), the young contestant, originally from Pennsylvania, was all smiles as she strutted onto the “AGT” stage. When asked by Judge Simon Cowell what she would do with the million dollar grand prize, Brinker offered a simple answer: buy Cowell “a rainbow shirt that has sequins on it.”
“You need color,” she told the judge, noting her dark, monochrome wardrobe.
When it was time for her to perform, Brinker burst into a booming opera number, blowing the judges away with her controlled voice and impressive range.
And it wasn’t just Judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Cowell who seemed impressed with Brinker. After her performance, a bird that was flying around the studio slipped up to the stage and landed on a box next to the contestant in the manner of a Disney princess.
“It’s pretty amazing,” Klum said. “It’s a sign.”
Mandel called Brinker’s voice “angelic”, while Vergara noted that the nominee was “a star”. But Cowell was shy with his comments, praising Brinker for passing his audition before asking to speak privately with host Terry Crews.
Cowell, Crews, and the rest of the judges turned away for a brief meeting. Among their muffled voices, Cowell whispered, “How would you feel if we had to do something different?”

After a tense pause that seemed to drag on for centuries, the judges turned to Brinker with startling news.
“Winning, like I said, coming forward, in terms of career, is really important; however, we’re not going to give you a yes today,” Cowell said, amid massive public outcry.
“We’re going to do something else that we’ve never, never done on the show before,” he continued. “We are going to give you all something special.”
Numbering five, the four judges, plus crews, hit the coveted Golden Buzzer at the same time, sending Brinker straight to the turn of the live show. This is the first time that the four judges and crews have unanimously used the Golden Buzzer on a competitor.
