Supernatural: a prequel to the parents of the Winchester brothers in the works

Supernatural is going to have a prequel TV series. While the series didn’t end until last November in the US (here’s how it ends), Supernatural is set to return to screens as a spin-off.
Series protagonist Jensen Ackles, along with his wife Danneel, who in turn guest-starred in the series, are working on The Winchesters, a Supernatural prequel that will tell the story of Sam and Dean’s parents.
The project is currently in development at The CW, the channel that has aired 14 of Supernatural’s 15 seasons since 2006. Jensen Ackles will be involved not only as a producer but also as the series’ narrator.

The Winchester is the title of the Supernatural prequel series

The Winchester, it is the title of the prequel series, received the interest of the CW network for the development of the scenario. If what Robbie Thompson, the co-executive producer of Supernatural at the helm of this new series, writes convinces senior officials of The CW, The Winchesters will be officially commissioned to become a reality.

What is The Winchesters about?

The series will feature John and Mary, the characters made famous by Samantha Smith and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the original series. Taking place years before Dean and Sam arrived, the series will tell the epic, never-before-seen love story of meeting John and Mary and how they both put everything they held dear for save not only their love, but also the rest of the world.
“After Supernatural ended with Season 15, we knew this story wasn’t over. Because like we say on the show, “nothing ever really ends, does it?” Jensen Ackles told Deadline. “When Danneel and I started our production company Chaos Machine Productions, we knew that the first story we wanted to tell was that of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the origin story of Supernatural. I always thought that my character, Dean, would want to know more about her parents’ relationship and how she was born. ”

The reaction of Eric Kripke, creator of Supernatural and current showrunner of The Boys, for the third season of which Ackles was chosen to play Soldier Boy, was not long in coming. “When Jensen Ackles first told me this story, I loved it. He, Danneel Harris and Robbie Thompson are the perfect people to make this happen, ”Kripke said on Twitter commenting on the news, adding that ..:“ The other perfect person is too busy being a Texas Ranger ” , in reference to Jared Padalecki and his current television project. “Thanks for taking over guys, you guys are awesome. I am proud of you ”, concluded Eric Kripke.

“I was not aware”, reaction of Jared Padalecki.
“Dude, I’m happy for you, but I wish I had heard the news in another way rather than on Twitter. I can’t wait to follow the show, but I’m sorry Sam Winchester wasn’t involved in any way. ” These are the words of Jared Padalecki, the actor who, along with Jensen Ackles, starred in Supernatural for 15 seasons.

Guy. Happy for you. I would have liked to hear about it other than through Twitter. Can’t wait to watch, but I’m disappointed Sam Winchester wasn’t involved at all – Jared Padalecki (@jarpad) June 25, 2021

According to Padalecki, who stars in the hit series Walker currently airing on the CW, he was completely unaware of Supernatural’s prequel series project.

Faced with the disbelief of the fans who were convinced that Padalecki was joking, the actor repeated: “No, this is not a joke. This is the first time I’ve heard this news. My heart is broken.”

No, it is not. This is the first time I’ve heard of it. I am disgusted. – Jared Padalecki (@jarpad) June 25, 2021

In a third tweet, later deleted, Padalecki also lashes out at Robbie Thompson, Supernatural’s co-executive producer in charge of writing the new prequel series. “And you Brute?” wrote Padalecki, alluding to the quote from Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Julius Caesar. “Wow. It’s a very bad thing that you did. #Bravo, coward. ”
