Tamar Braxton said she was “dedicated to being the best mom” possible a year after she attempted suicide.
After the 44-year-old survived her suicide attempt, she broke off her relationship with WE tv where she starred on two shows.
“I still love television but I will definitely never do another docuseries on my life again,” she said in a new interview with People.

She shares her eight-year-old son Logan with her ex-husband Vincent Herbert who she starred with on the reality show Tamar And Vince.
After their marriage broke up, Tamar began to star in the WE Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life! on the life of a single mother.
During this time, she also appeared on the hit reality show Braxton Family Values which focused on her, her sisters including song star Toni Braxton and their mother.
However, over time, she became frustrated with the glaring way Braxton Family Values showed Family Conflict and Get Ya Life! depicts his family life.
Tamar said as she filmed her spin-off, “After a scene, I would look at it back, and it wouldn’t look anything like the way it turned out. They started putting words and phrases together. I just thought it wasn’t necessary.
She insisted that she “wanted to make positive television” and that at the start of Braxton Family Values ”it was a positive black family”.

She added, “During my illness, I thought if I could take the embarrassment out of his life, he might have a chance to have the best life.”
Tamar shared, “This period of my life was so dark and so heavy. I didn’t see how I was going to get out on the other side. I didn’t even know there was another side. But I chose to change my life.
She admitted, “Most people think, ‘Oh, she went to a hotel, probably took a bunch of drugs, was in a frenzy. “It didn’t turn out like that. It was just everyday life, trying to figure out how to get through the day and then …. ‘

Tamar wrote on Instagram shortly after her attempt: “Over the past 11 years, promises have been made to protect and describe my story, with the authenticity and honesty that I have given. betrayed, abused, overworked and underpaid.
“I wrote a letter over 2 months ago asking to be released from what I thought was excessive and unfair. I explained in detail the disappearance that I was going through. My cry for help was totally ignored. However, the demands persisted.

After her suicide attempt, The Blast reported on a letter she allegedly sent to WE tv last June, in which she wrote that she had “considered ending” her own life.
The alleged letter pulled a line from WE tv about the “cruel white slave masters who once chained our ancestors” and blamed the network for the discord between those close to them.
Tamar’s reported note said that her “once happy” family “now fights, betrays each other, and now we physically attack each other.”
“It’s all happening because your show chose to show the worst side of a strong, independent and successful African American family.”

Then, in September of last year, her ex-boyfriend David Adefeso obtained a temporary domestic violence restraining order against her.
At the time, he claimed that she made threats to hit him and assaulted him while he was driving.
However, in March, TMZ reported that the restraining order was overturned after the two failed to appear for a hearing.
